Mid-Year Pause, A Time to Realign

John 9:4: “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.”

It’s already the end of July, can you believe we’re over halfway through 2025?

Sometimes, July brings with it a silent weight, a sense that things haven’t gone to plan. For some, the awareness of time passing brings a holy discomfort.

You might have started the year with big intentions, written goals, or even just hopes in your heart.

And yet, here we are.

Some of those plans may have come to fruition. Others may feel delayed… or even derailed.

In Ireland, its now Summer, traditionally a time when life slows down.

But beyond the relaxed routines and slower pace, July can offer us something more, an intentional space to pause, reflect, and take stock.

A time to breathe.

To not just check what we’re doing, but to ask if we’re doing the right things.

Because  just because you can do something doesn’t always mean you should.

Without reflection, we run the risk of living on autopilot, chasing goals that no longer fit or missing the quiet nudges from the Father who has promised to guide us.

Proverbs 3:6 reminds us, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

That’s not just a poetic verse it’s a promise.

But promises require partnership.

Jesus even says in John 9:4, “we must do the works…”

It’s not just Him, it’s Him and us. Together.

This season, I’m taking time out to reflect.

I’ll be journaling, praying, reviewing my goals both personal and professional.

In fact, in my business we’re hosting a team session called ‘July Kick On’ because we know that you can’t adjust what you don’t evaluate.

One thing I’ve learnt is this: old ways will only carry you so far. Maybe it’s time to take off the grave clothes and step into the next thing God has called you to.

So here’s your invitation:

Take 30 minutes. Maybe even an hour.

Sit with God.

Dust off those goals you tucked away in January.

Ask the Holy Spirit:

What needs to be released?

What needs to be reignited?

And what needs to be received in this season?

Let summer be your sacred reset.

Because we must do the work, and He is faithful to lead.
