Discipleship in the Marketplace

“Let us not give up meeting together… but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”Hebrews 10:25 (NIV)

In the fast moving world of business, especially in Ireland, it’s easy to feel isolated.

Decisions are weighty. Pressures are real, faith can quietly drift to the margins. But the early Church gives us a powerful reminder: discipleship was never meant to happen alone.

Jesus called His disciples not just to follow Him, but to walk together. Learn, grow, and lead in community. In Acts 2, believers broke bread, prayed, and shared what they had, to the very ends of their means. This wasn’t limited to homes or temples, it spilled into everyday life, including work.

For Christian business leaders and professionals today, gathering regularly with others who share your faith is critical. In a divided world, the marketplace becomes a mission field. But we can’t lead from an empty place. Discipleship, intentional, regular, Spirit-led encouragement and accountability, is how we stay anchored.

Ireland needs bold, humble, Kingdom-minded businesspeople who sharpen one another, just as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). Whether it’s a morning coffee, a HUB group, or prayer with a trusted friend, gathering to pursue Christ in your business brings vision, and clarity.

Don’t walk alone this season. Lean into community. Build one another up. Let discipleship fuel your direction. Together, we can transform culture in the marketplace.

Jesus influenced many but walked with a few, close and intimate journeying life together in honest relationship.
