About
The book of Genesis is a good place to start if you want to understand what God has to say about ‘work’. In Genesis we discover that the Hebrew word for ‘work’ Avodah also is used for ‘worship’ - when we work we also are worshipping the God who created us in ‘his own image’. In Genesis we discover who we are and why our work is something that God is very interested in.
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Genesis 1:28
How did it start?
The Genesis Network launched in January 2021. We are a ‘movement not an organisation’.
Genesis Network is a Company Limited by guarantee and is registered with The Charity Commission Northern Ireland.
Launched off the back of a previous marketplace ministry it began with the board of trustees and a single HUB in Lisburn.
Why did it happen?
-
Business can be lonely and can be an intimidating place to be as a Christian. We believe there is a need to have a network together to encourage, support and challenge.
-
Business comes with a lot of challenges, as does your faith. We think it is important that these two areas of your life are not separated but thought through carefully how they are integrated and lived out.
-
There is more to life that business. We believe that it is important to give people the opportunity to explore faith in an atmosphere that is familiar and journey with them in authentic relationship
