Where Is Your Focus?
Have you ever looked around at the world and asked, “Why do they seem to be thriving, while I’m struggling to stay faithful?”
Psalm 73 is a raw, honest account of this very tension. Asaph, the writer, opens his heart:
“For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked… They are not in trouble as others are; they are not stricken like the rest of mankind.” (v3-5)
He wrestles with the age-old question — is it worth staying faithful when the world around us seems to reward pride, wealth, and power?
But everything changes in verse 17:
“...until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end.”
In God’s presence, perspective shifts. We remember that our success is not measured by temporary gain but by eternal purpose. Asaph concludes with deep assurance:
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (v26)
For those of us in the marketplace, Psalm 73 is a timely reminder. The calling to live faithfully in business may not always look glamorous or even fair. But your faithfulness matters. God sees. He strengthens. And He is your portion, not profit.
Where is your focus today? Who is your portion?
Let this year be a year where we choose presence over envy, obedience over comparison, and God over gain.
It is good to be near God, come and let’s do His work.
